Dynamica FORTUNA HMPE rope

Dynamica FORTUNA HMPE is a 12 strand braided rope made from HMPE fibre, which gives it the same strength as steel wire at up to 10 times less weight, so crews can handle and rig it with far less effort than wire of equivalent strength.

The construction is rotation free, which means the rope does not snake, birdcage or kink in the way wire rope can, and its elongation of 3 to 4 percent keeps it stable under load. If a rope does fail, its low mass and low stretch mean the energy is released along the whole length and recoil is relatively low compared with steel, which reduces the risk to riggers and equipment nearby.

FORTUNA has very good UV stability and chemical resistance, extremely good abrasion resistance and low creep, and its buoyancy of 0.98 means it is slightly lighter than water.

To get the longest service life, keep the rope away from rusty surfaces and sharp edges that cause cuts, abrasion and splice damage, and fit a braided polyester or Dynamica PRO cover on the eyes and bearing points, or along the full length for operations that call for it. The rope should be inspected before every operation for construction damage, cover damage, abrasion and any change in diameter.
